Hippopotamus Wooden Toy

Deceptively gentle, endlessly fascinating — just like the real thing.

Hand-carved from sustainably sourced maple and finished in non-toxic paint, this hippopotamus is a hefty, satisfying presence in any toy collection. Every broad snout, rounded barrel body, and stubby leg has been shaped by hand, giving each one its own quiet personality. At a sturdy medium size, it's built for the kind of enthusiastic play that kids are famous for — and tough enough to keep coming back for more.

Did you know? Despite spending most of their day submerged in water, hippos can't actually swim — they walk and bounce along the riverbed, holding their breath for up to five minutes at a time.
